The project Animal Animal Animal (working title " Natural Expressions), started in 1988. At that time I began photographing Harald V. Uccello interacting with real animals and their representations. The idea was to approach the ancient world of the animals as a part of the search for the "civilized" self still in touch with the "animal" self; the timeless and endless search of the spirit that binds humans to all creatures. in my view, animals are not mere instinctive and habit-bound life-forms, but unique beings , each of whose essence bubbles with subtle, natural and powerful forces.
As the days, months and years have gone by, HV.U and I have continued this photo/performance project each time we have encountered animal that called to us. This continuity serves my interest in the concept, Tempus Fugit; I believe each image from this file catches a special intimatacy between time and space, and brings that moment into a permanent present.
I have documented H V.U and the animals over the past 21 years in Paris, Wien, Strasbourg, Katmandú, Marrakech, London, New York, Eivissa, Rome Madrid, Berlin, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, El dar el baida, München, Firenze, Milano, Juist, Washington DC, St Girons, Venecia, Bröllin, Tetinang, Bayeux, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Clermont l’Hérault, Phaplu, Schiwong, Montmel, Köln, Bolonia, Uzès, Rosas, Rabat, Lausanne, hambourg and Barcelona. these locations constitute a cartography of habitats in which these beings live: all together they constitute the beautiful animals of my archive. This exhibition marks the first time in 21 years that I have shown the archive and it is my great pleasure to share them with You.
